Although not easy recognizable, the wines from Fetească Neagră are full-bodied, ample, velvety and harmonious, with a discreet, but very specific smell, that suggest the smell or dried prunes. In an aged wine, subtle hints of cinnamon may appear.
It lends itself very well to maturing and aging, a wine that evolves nicely after 2-3 years of tank maturing and 3-8 years of bottle aging.
In favorable years, the wine from Fetească Neagră can be as excellent as the Cabernet Sauvignon wine.
